When to see a Neurologist?
The neurologist is the medical specialist of the peripheral, central and autonomic nervous system. This means that it is responsible for all those conditions that affect both the brain and the nerves and muscles of the nervous system.
Reasons to go to the neurologist
The main reason for consulting a neurologist is the suspicion that there is a disease related to a failure in the nervous system. The problem with these pathologies is that there is a wide range of associated symptoms and, in turn, the neurological diseases are multiple.
Even so, neurologists recommend going to a neurology consultation when these warning signs mainly appear:
Severe or persistent headache
Loss of sensation in extremities or tremors
Dizziness, vertigo or instability
Vision alterations: double vision, loss of sight
Loss of consciousness or fainting
Sleep disturbances
Gait and balance disturbances
Loss of strength in the extremities
Suspected epileptic seizure or confusion
Loss of memory, space-time orientation, or difficulty maintaining attention or concentration
Language alterations
All of these symptoms can refer to the appearance of a neurological pathology, which usually includes:
Headaches or Migraine
Alzheimer's
Parkinson's
Multiple Sclerosis
Epilepsy
Cerebrovascular Accident or Stroke
Involuntary Compulsive Disorders (ICT)
Radiculitis
Fibromyalgia
Among others.
